Area damage is more useful than Impale damage for this spec, and trading it in significantly lowers the rate at which you'll clear waves of mobs as well as elites.įinally, the orange effect on Lord Greenstone's Fan is highly important, and having a low roll on the orange effect can ruin an otherwise good dagger. The final step (and I don't recommend it) will be to trade area damage for vitality. The next step will be to trade Impale damage on the helm for vitality, which will net between 600-1000 more vitality depending on whether the helm is ancient or not. The damage drop won't be as significant as losing either of the other two gems. If you're one of these people then you should start by testing Esoteric Alteration instead of Bane of the Powerful. Typically I'll trade in vitality or dexterity on gear to obtain CDR and AD, but some people may find it uncomfortable run a 'melee' build with a lowish overall toughness and that's OK, its always better to play what you're comfortable with rather than get frustrated by dying. This is because the larger portion of your rift clearing damage will come from Fan of Knives (FoK), which does insanely well with area damage provided you pool mobs together well. Once you've gotten permanent vengeance the next stat to prioritize is AD. This can be achieved by getting ~36.7% cool down reduction (CDR), which is best obtained by having a diamond in the helm, 10% from paragon points and having at least 3 pieces of gear with good CDR rolls (~7 on average). When gearing for this build you'll need to be particular with a few stat rolls on your items, namely you'll require permanent vengeance and as much area damage (AD) as you can get.
